SWAT standoff in Hixson ends with 43-year-old man's arrest

A 43-year-old man was arrested Friday following a standoff with members of Hamilton County Sheriff's Office SWAT team, according to an HCSO news release.

Raymond J. Rzeplinski has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a prohibited weapon, felony reckless endangerment involving a deadly weapon and resisting arrest, the release states.

The incident began when HCSO deputies responded to burglar alarm call near the 1500 block of Crabtree Road in Hixson, according to a tweet from the sheriff's office. When deputies arrived, a man approached them and made various threats, including threatening to use firearms if they came near his property.

Deputies then requested that SWAT personnel respond to the scene. Following a standoff, the suspect was taken into custody at 8:15 p.m., the release states.
