Chattanooga police identify man killed in single-vehicle crash on Highway 153 ramp to I-75 south

A 49-year-old man was not wearing his seat belt at 6:22 p.m. when the Jeep Wrangler he was driving left its lane on the Highway 153 south ramp onto Interstate 75 south and crashed into the wall.

Timothy Holder was ejected from the vehicle and fell onto the shoulder of Interstate 75 South, according to a Chattanooga Police Department news release.

The Jeep then continued down the ramp driverless, crossing both lanes of traffic, before coming to rest on the right wall. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, the release states.

Hamilton County EMS responded and pronounced Holder dead at the scene.

The incident caused Highway 153 southbound and Interstate 75 southbound to be partially closed after the crash, with the Tennessee Department of Transportation estimating the roadways would be cleared by 9 p.m.
