Chattanooga saw an especially violent weekend with five people shot in five separate shootings, including one that claimed the life of a 19-year-old pregnant woman.

The first incident took place at about 2:09 a.m. Sunday morning. A 35-year-old man showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. He told police he was walking near the Walnut Street Bridge when he was shot. But police couldn't find a crime scene.

Just three-and-a-half hours later at around 5:30 a.m., a 31-year-old man was shot multiple times in the 5200 block of Woodland View Circle. He told police a man pointed a gun at him and shot several rounds at him as he was running away. Beyond that, he was "unwilling to assist with the investigation," he told police.

Then at 6:27 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot while walking in the 2500 block of O'Rear Street.

By 12:53 a.m. Monday, another shooting had occurred. This time it was fatal. Nineteen-year-old Quintasia Tate was shot multiple times in the 7600 block of Standifer Gap Road, police said. She died at a local hospital.

Tate's family members told WRCB-TV Channel 3 that she was seven months pregnant and had a 2-year-old son.

Just over an hour later, a 23-year-old man showed up at a local hospital after being shot multiple times in the 3400 block of Vinewood Drive. He told police he was approached by an unknown man with a gun, and after a short struggle the gun went off.

Police have not released information about whether any of the shootings are connected or related to gang activity.

So far, there have been 89 people shot this year within Chattanooga city limits. Tate's death marks the city's 18th gun-related homicide in 2019.

The number of shooting victims is higher this year than last year, but it's still below 2017 and 2016, a year that saw an especially violent gang war, records show.

By this time last year, there were 79 shooting victims, 11 of whom died. In 2017, 101 people were shot. Twenty-four of them died. And in 2016, there were 107 victims, 19 of whom died.
