'Watchdog 150' beer

To celebrate the Chattanooga Times Free Press turning 150 years old this year, Heaven & Ale Brewing Co. in the North Shore brewed a 150th anniversary commemorative beer. The beer, dubbed "Watchdog 150" by columnist Mark Kennedy, is a "winter warmer," according to Heaven & Ale owner Joe Winland. The name describes the mission of the Times Free Press to be a watchdog and trustworthy local news source for the Chattanooga region.

"None of the spices are particularly overwhelming; everything meshes really nicely. It's still got a nice-like bready, caramelly presence to it," Winland said.

The beer will be available for a limited time at the brewery at 300 Cherokee Blvd., Ste. 101.

The Times Free Press has been around for 150 years and we hope to be around for the next 150 years. To help us in our mission and support local news, you can subscribe at timesfreepress.com/subscribe/.
