A Thursday evening visitor to the Cleveland-Bradley Business Incubator on the Cleveland State campus accidentally fired their handgun while showing it to a friend, according to campus communications and marketing director Don Foley.

No one was injured and any damage was minimal, Foley said in a release. Cleveland State Community College and Cleveland, Tennessee police responded to the incident. The gun owner, whose identity was not released but who holds a concealed carry permit, was arrested and charged in connection with the incident, the release states.

The nature of that charge was not immediately clear.

"Regardless of whether the shooting was accidental or not, we take the safety of all of our students and visitors to campus seriously," Cleveland State President Dr. Bill Seymour said in the release.
