UPDATE: Could Facebook post have spurred Chattooga County commissioner's wife to dump soda on reporter?

The Summerville Police Department is investigating an incident after the wife of Chattooga County's sole commissioner poured a soda on the head of a local reporter.

Abbey Winters, the wife of Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters, poured a soda on Casie Bryant's head before Friday's commission meeting.

Bryant is a reporter for the news blog All On Georgia.

According to witnesses, Winters poured the soda on Bryant's head and said, "You deserve that."

Sgt. Ty Hutchins with the Summerville Police Department said that several witnesses said that Bryant did nothing to provoke Winters during the meeting.

Hutchins said that Winters went to their lawyers' offices following the incident.

Police were called to the meeting and started interviewing people about the incident.

Bryant told officers that she was shocked after the drink was poured on her and then calmly left the meeting and went to her car.

She also told police that she heard someone say that "the drink looked good on her."

After meeting with her attorney, Winters told officers she had accidentally poured the drink on Bryant's head after "stumbling and tripping near her," according to the incident report.

The Police Department has applied for a warrant for Winters' arrest for simple battery and disorderly conduct.
