A Catoosa County man who previously served 28 years for murder is now being charged for concealing the body of his wife after investigators found her body this summer.

Bob Jay Cole, 46, is being charged with concealing the death of another person. The charge is a felony and is punishable by 1 to 10 years.

Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said Cole is currently in jail on a parole violation.

Cole was released from prison in the summer of 2018 after serving 28 years in prison on a murder conviction from Catoosa County.

Brtiney Nicole Parker, 31, was found in June in a grassy field near the 2900 block of Old Mineral Springs Road, 2 miles from Lafayette.

The body was found in the early morning hours by two men who were checking livestock in the area.

An autopsy performed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab found that Parker had a lethal amount of methamphetamine in her body. The death was ruled an accidental overdose.

Wilson said in a press release investigators allege Parker's body was moved in Cole's SUV after she overdosed. He then allegedly discarded the body in the field where she was found.

The day after Parker's body was found, Cole sold his SUV to a Walker County car dealer. Investigators seized the SUV for evidence and later found traces of Parker's blood in the luggage compartment.

Parker and Cole were married just days before Parker was found dead.

A detainer has been placed for Cole with the Georgia Department of Corrections.

When Cole gets out of prison, he will be moved to Walker County and booked on the felony charge.
