Two suspected purse theives have been identified after police received multiple tips from callers who saw the surveillance photos online, according to a Dalton Police Department news release.

No names have been released at this time, but investigators are working on arrest warrants.

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public to help them locate two people who stole a purse from a shopper at an area grocery store.

The incident happened on Christmas Eve at a Food City grocery store on Walnut Avenue, according to a news release. The victim told Dalton police that she accidentally left her clutch purse in a shopping cart, before heading back to her car.

The purse contained valuable items, including $280 in cash and bank cards, the release states.

Dalton police said the victim's debit card was used at a Marathon gas station in Calhoun, Georgia, shortly after the theft occurred.

The suspects were caught on store surveillance video, and are described as being a white male and a white female.

Anyone who recognizes the suspects or who has information about the crime is asked to contact Detective Charles Williams at 706-278-9085.
