Severe wind and heavy rain crossed the Tennessee Valley overnight, causing trees to take down several power lines in the area.

Various power outages were reported to EPB throughout the night. The company said that their crews have been working around-the-clock to restore power to residents, according to a Facebook post on Monday.

Mary Bell, who lives on Daugherty Ferry Road in Sale Creek, said she had been without power for about 12 hours before she contacted EPB customer service for a status update.

"I called because it had been off so long," she said.

Bell said the customer service representative told her that several transformers had been affected by winds and that additional crews with other equipment had to be called to get to downed lines in remote areas.

Bell said she was told by the EPB representative that some areas would be affected by the outages for several more hours.

EPB customers can check the status of their home or report a power outage by contacting the company at 423-648-1372
