The Chattanooga Fire Department paid a special birthday visit to an East Brainerd teen on Tuesday, Dec. 31.

Connor Murray, who turns 16 on Jan. 1, has Asperger's syndrome. Connor's mother, Brandi, had planned a Sweet 16 party for him, but he declined. On social media, she asked for wishes and kind words for him. Brandi also talked about how Connor had helped care for his sick younger sister over the past year.

When the fire department heard about the story and wanted to do something nice for him, Brandi, whose father and brothers are firefighters in Texas, knew Connor would enjoy a visit.

His family wanted to share this event with the media to inform people of the challenges children with Asperger's face daily.
