A family of five will have to stay elsewhere after a blaze in their Foust Street home did about $20,000 in damage before Chattanooga firefighters were able to bring it under control. No injuries were reported.

Shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday, firefighters were dispatched to the 1800 block of Foust Street, according to a Chattanooga Fire Department news release. Battalion Chief Ashley May reported heavy flames visible from the back porch upon arriving at the scene.

May said the flames were just beginning to get into the house, but the firefighters managed to extinguish the flames in roughly 20 minutes.

Due to damage to some of the wiring, the meter had to be pulled, so the family will have to stay elsewhere until repairs are made.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
