Crime lab identifies body of woman found Tuesday in LaFayette, Ga.

UPDATE: The body of a woman found dead off Old Mineral Springs Road has been positively identified as 31-year-old Britney Nicole Parker Cole in a G.B.I. crime lab, according to a news release from the Walker County Sheriff's Office.

ORIGINAL STORY: Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson announced Wednesday that investigators believe 31-year-old Britney Parker Cole was the woman found deceased off Old Mineral Springs Road on Tuesday.

The sheriff's office sent the woman's body to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab, where a medical examiner can attempt to confirm the identification and determine the manner of death.

Old Mineral Springs Road is in LaFayette, about 2 miles southeast of the Walmart of U.S. Highway 27. The sheriff's office wants anyone with information on Cole's activity over the past couple of weeks to call Detective Sgt. Zach Simpson at 706-639-0870.
