A Pikeville, Tennessee, man has been charged by the TBI in two homicides that happened Tuesday in Cumberland County.
John Patrick Fields, 46, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder in two separate incidents that left two dead and two injured, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Josh DeVine said in statement.
John Patrick FieldsFields is charged in the deaths of 47-year-old Lowell Thomas "Chip" Simmons and Makayla Manning, 23, whom investigators say were killed at different locations.
The first incident occurred earlier Tuesday at a home on Critter Creek Road in Crossville, where Cumberland County deputies responded to a 911 call from a resident who found what he believed to be a body, DeVine said.
Deputies responded and found Simmons outside of the home.
The second incident occurred around 10 p.m. CDT at a home on Vandever Road in Crossville. There, three people were shot. Manning was pronounced dead at the scene and a another man and a woman were hospitalized in Knoxville.
As part of the ongoing investigation, Simmons and Manning will undergo autopsies, officials said.
During the course of the investigation, authorities developed information leading to Fields who was booked into the Cumberland County Jail and is held on $5 million bond, according to the TBI.
