Chattanooga Fire Department firefighters rescued a person trapped inside a burning house at 900 Airport Road on Saturday, according to a news release.

Firefighters were sent to the home around 9 a.m. and told that there was at least one person trapped within the structure fire. The incident commander, Lt. Jack Babb, reported fire and smoke when firefighters arrived on the scene, reads the release from the fire department.

"Two residents had exited the structure prior to firefighters' arrival, but reported one individual was still inside," the release states.

Firefighters made "an aggressive interior attack" and then searched the building, locating the victim and removing them from the structure. The fire was contained to the room where it began.

Two of the three residents were transported to the hospital.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The American Red Cross responded to assist the family.
