Chattanooga man and pets survive East Lake fire

A Chattanooga man and his pets managed to escape an East Lake house fire early Saturday morning, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Fire Department.

Fire officials responded to the 3900 block of 17th Avenue just after midnight. The fire appeared to have started in the laundry area of the home, the release states.

No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross was contacted for assistance.
