Georgia trooper crashes during high-speed chase with teenager

A Georgia state trooper crashed and a teenager flipped a stolen vehicle several times during a high speed chase on Interstate 75 in North Georgia over the weekend.

The 17-year-old was arrested following the pursuit and taken to the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office.

The chase began shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday morning after the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office dispatched a "be on the lookout" message for a stolen silver Infinity. A Ringgold police officer spotted the vehicle on the interstate and requested assistance from Georgia State Patrol.

A trooper attempted to stop the suspect near mile marker 343 after confirming the vehicle was stolen, according to GSP. The suspect refused, initiating the pursuit.

The trooper crashed the front left of her patrol car into a guardrail during the chase near mile marker 333. She was injured by declined to be transported by EMS. She was later driven to a medical facility to receive treatment and was checked, cleared and released.

Another trooper picked up the chase following the crash and performed a Pursuit Intervention Technique (P.I.T. maneuver) on the stolen vehicle about five miles later, which overturned several times. The driver was taken into custody without further incident, according to GSP.
