On Tuesday, the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 700 block of Curve Street in North Chattanooga that sent a baby to the hospital, according to a news release.

Fire investigators said Tuesday afternoon that it appears the house fire was accidental but that it is still under investigation.

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the right unit of a duplex around 12:10 p.m. Residents of the duplex - a mother and father - were able to escape, but an infant suffered minor burns and was taken to an area hospital, according to a news release.

The fire moved into the attic, and it took a little over an hour to fully extinguish the blaze, the release states. The unit suffered extensive damage.

The condition of the baby is unknown at this time.
