Water line break forces week-long road closure off Gunbarrel Road

Chattanooga transportation officials are encouraging motorists to use a detour after a water line break has closed down Commons Boulevard near the Hamilton Place Mall.

Commons Boulevard, between Gunbarrel Road and Hamilton Place Boulevard, will be closed until Tuesday, Nov. 19, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Department of Transportation.

Motorists are encouraged to use Shallowford Road or Landress Drive as a detour.

A spokeswoman from Tennessee American Water says the pipe is not part of TAW infrastructure and that "the owner is responsible for the repair of and restoration of the road once the repair is complete," according to a news release.
