A man is in custody after a late-night standoff in East Brainerd.

The Chattanooga Police Department's SWAT and hostage negotiation teams were called to a home on Elaine Trail just before 9 p.m. Thursday on a report of a man barricaded in a home, according to a police spokesperson.

Police had been trying to serve a warrant on a man, identified as Jose Diaz, when he refused to come out.

A nearby resident told the Times Free Press he heard police shouting to Diaz come out of the home.

Diaz finally surrendered around 3 a.m. Friday and was arrested.

This is a developing story.
