Food City's 13th annual "Celebrity Bagging" fundraising event, held in conjunction with the United Way, will benefit the Chattanooga Times Free Press Neediest Cases appeal this year, a news release states.

The event takes place Tuesday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Food City locations including Chattanooga, Hixson, Athens and Cleveland, Tennessee, and Fort Oglethorpe in Georgia.

Local celebrities volunteer their time to bag groceries at participating Food City locations, and shoppers who wish to do so can contribute to the United Way at checkout counters, in collection containers or have a contribution added to their grocery total.

Participating area Food City stores are located at 3801 Tennessee Ave. in Chattanooga; 5604 Hixson Pike in Hixson; 531 Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia; 255 Ocoee Crossing North in Cleveland, Tennessee; and 105 South Hill St. in Athens, Tennessee.

Other Food City locations in Southeast Tennessee and Virginia also are taking part.

The annual Neediest Cases appeal officially kicks off on Thanksgiving Day and runs through the end of the year.
