Collegedale police have arrested a man named Abraham Lincoln for falsely claiming he was going to rob a bank Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to the First Horizon Bank, located at 9312 Apison Pike, at about 1:42 p.m., according to a news release. The caller told dispatchers that a man, later identified as 51-year-old Lincoln, passed a teller a note informing her the bank was being robbed and to notify police.

"Officers arrived on scene 36 seconds later," the news release claims, where they made contact with the man in the front of the bank. He surrendered to officers.

No injuries were reported, and no money was stolen, according to the news release.

Lincoln reportedly told police that he had "no intention of robbing the bank or harming anyone, but rather wanted to go to jail for his past actions in life," the news release states.

After coordinating with federal authorities and the Hamilton County District Attorney's Office, Lincoln was charged with filing a false report and disorderly conduct.
