The owner of a new local animal hospital found himself with a unique patient this week, less than one month after opening his business.

A 55-pound, two-year-old male red kangaroo named Twitch, who belongs to The Little Country Farm & Petting Zoo in Cleveland, Tennessee, hopped into Ooltewah Veterinary Hospital for a neutering procedure, according to a news release.

Twitch was reportedly brought to the hospital for alteration due to showing signs of aggressive behavior. His owners had reached out to Dr. Micah Woods, OVH veterinarian and owner.

After confirming his surgical and anesthesia approach with a board-certified zoological veterinarian, Dr. Woods and his team successfully performed the surgery on Twitch, who was able to return home a few hours later.

Woods mentioned in the release that many vets tend to be nervous about seeing patients like Twitch if they don't have the experience or knowledge to work on exotic animals.

"We may have never seen a kangaroo, but my staff and I are trained to handle exotic pets of all kinds and we were thrilled to take on this challenge," he said. "The fact is, neutered pets make better pets, and Twitch is no exception."

OVH, a full-service animal hospital, is located on Little Debbie Parkway in Ooltewah, Tenn.
