One man dead after early morning shooting Monday in Chattanooga

One person is dead after an early morning shooting Monday in Chattanooga.

Responding to a shots-fired call around 12:33 a.m. in the 1100 block of North Hawthorne Street, police located three people with injuries, according to a news release from Chattanooga Police Department.

Two men - both 31 years old - had gunshot wounds, and a third man - a 34-year-old - also had injuries, but police are working to determine the cause of his. All three were taken to a local hospital, where one of the men died. The identity of the deceased is being withheld as police work to notify family, the release states.

Police determined the three had been standing outside when shots were fired in their direction.

The condition of the two survivors was not released, nor was suspect information.

This incident comes after an especially violent weekend in Chattanooga where one man was shot at Coyote Jack's nightclub early Sunday morning and taken to a local hospital where he later died.

In a separate incident Sunday morning on Shallowford Road, one man was shot after he and another man were handling a gun in a "reckless manner" while intoxicated, according to police. Both men were charged with reckless endangerment and possession of a firearm while Intoxicated, according to the news release.

On Saturday, a 19-year-old victim was stabbed in the 1100 block of Grove Street after a disorder with 19-year-old Latricia Alexandra Hood. Hood was taken into custody Monday and charged with attempted criminal homicide.
