As Chattanooga Fire Department firefighters battled a large apartment blaze on Saturday, the Red Bank Fire Department responded to a house fire on the 100 block of Flora Circle.

Firefighters arrived on the scene about 6:30 p.m. Saturday and reported seeing heavy smoke and fire on the back of the residence, according to a news release from Hamilton County Emergency Services spokeswoman Amy Maxwell.

Red Bank firefighters immediately requested a mutual aid response for additional manpower, and were shortly joined by crews from the Signal Mountain and Dallas Bay fire departments. Hamilton County Marine Rescue responded to provide firefighters with medical assistance.

"Red Bank fire officials reported firefighters had to conduct a defensive attack due to the house [being] fully involved with fire," the release states. "The homeowner (female) was transported by HCEMS from the scene. Her injuries are unknown at this time."

Damages and the cause of the fire were undetermined as of Saturday evening and remained under investigation by the Red Bank Fire Department.
