Soddy-Daisy home destroyed, dog dies in Thursday evening fire

A home on the 1400 block of Thatcher Road in Soddy-Daisy was destroyed in a Thursday evening blaze.

No injuries were reported, but a family did lose a dog in the fire, according to a news release from Hamilton County Emergency Services.

A 911 call was made at 7:45 p.m. reporting the fire, and Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene to report heavy fire on the back and side of the house. Firefighters requested mutual aid response for additional manpower, and the Soddy-Daisy and Dallas Bay fire departments responded.

"The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriffs Office," the release states. An estimate of the cost of damages was not available.

The American Red Cross was called to the scene to help the family of four adults with their immediate needs, the release states.
