A 15-year-old special needs student in Georgia has been arrested after bringing a gun to Ringgold High School on Monday.

The Ringgold Police Department said the gun was not loaded and there were no threats made against other students or the school, according to a Facebook post. The student will not be allowed to return to the school, the post reads.

Marissa Brower, spokeswoman for the Catoosa County School District, said administration was notified of the incident at about 11:45 a.m. Monday and that a school resource officer confiscated the gun immediately.

Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk said that two students saw the gun in the boy's locker during PE.

The two students then went to the principal's office to tell the principal what they saw.

The principal then notified the school resource officer who then took the boy out of a different class and removed him from the property.

Sisk said no threats were made and confirmed that the 22-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun was not loaded.
