A Bradley County Sheriff's Office incident report shows the office's former spokesman, Adam Lewis, is being investigated after his wife found a recording device in her car and claimed it was Lewis who placed it there.

Lewis resigned Wednesday, one day after the report was filed and after having been put on administrative leave.

Sheriff's office deputies were called to the Publix parking lot on Paul Huff Parkway on Tuesday. There, they met with Lewis' wife, who said she'd found a recording device in her car, possibly placed there by Lewis. The couple has been working through a divorce, the report states.

Deputies did find a device which was "actively recording," the report states. It was put into an evidence bag and handed over to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

District Attorney Steve Crump had asked the TBI to conduct the investigation.

In a statement released Thursday, Lewis' attorney Jim Logan said his client will be "fully cooperative in this matter."

"Adam Lewis is a good and decent man but he, like all of us, is a fragile human being and capable of making mistakes," Logan said.
