Chattanooga City Council schedule changing this week and next

As the Chattanooga City Council prepares for National Night Out and a bond issuance, some regular meetings will be on a different schedule this and next week.

Here's what you need to know about the time changes:

Oct. 1: To allow council members to participate in National Night Out events in their respective districts, the council's regular voting meeting, usually scheduled for 6 p.m., will be at 4 p.m., while all other meetings remain scheduled for their standard times. The council agenda is also brief to ensure a short meeting.

National Night Out events in the area include:

- Kick Off in Baker South

Clifton Hills Improvement Committee and East Lake Neighborhood Association, 3300 Brannon Ave., 5:30-8:30 p.m.

- Adam North

Fairfax/Bagwell neighborhood associations, Brooks Memorial United Methodist Church, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

MLK Neighborhood Association, Ted Bryant Park, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

- Adam South

Community Association of Historic St. Elmo, St. Elmo Ave. near 1885 Grill, 6-9 p.m.

- Baker North

Avondale/Wheeler Ave., Orchard Knob, Riverside Area, Historic Glenwood, Lincoln Park/Green Spaces, and Churchville Neighborhood Associations-Diagnostic Center Parking lot at 9900 E. Third St., 6-9 p.m.

- Baker South

Historical Organization of Ferger Place, 1725 E. 17th St., 6-9 p.m.

- Charlie North

Lake Hills Neighborhood Association, Lake Hills Park, 6-8 p.m.

Shepherd Community Action Council, Shepherd Recreation Center, 6-8 p.m.

- Charlie South

North Brainerd Council, Biltmore Neighborhood Association, Forrest Hill Neighborhood Association, Foxwood Heights Neighborhood, Shawnee Hills, Menlo Park, Woodmore Neighborhood Association, Indian Hills, Eastdale Neighborhood Association, Indian Hills, Eastdale Neighborhood Association, Dalewood Heights, North Town Forest, Brainerd YFD Center, noon-7 p.m.

Oct. 8: A bond sale will be held at 2 p.m. next Tuesday in the J.B. Collins conference room, derailing the council's usual afternoon schedule. To allow the council time to handle usual business and observe the bond sale process, the council meeting schedule will be:

  • 10 a.m. bond sale; arrive by 9:45 a.m.
  • 11:30 a.m. break
  • 12:30 p.m. strategic planning
  • 2 p.m. special session of the council (re: bond resolutions)
  • The regular 3 p.m. agenda session and 6 p.m. voting meeting will take place as usual.
