The Whitfield County Sheriffs Office has named the person who died in a hang gliding accident Saturday night.

Michael Lynn Green, 61, died Saturday night after crashing his motorized hang glider. The accident happened Saturday at about 7 p.m. at the Pratermill Flight Park Airport in Dalton.

In the incident report, a witness told officers that he saw the aircraft flying south and then making a left-hand turn. The witness then heard the engine rev up and then thought the aircraft stalled.

The witness heard the crash and went to check on Green when he realized he was dead at the scene.

Another witness saw the aircraft spiral down at a tree line height and crash when it hit the ground.

The Whitfield County Sheriffs Office is continuing to investigate the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are also investigating the crash, according to a press release from the FAA.
