Magnitude 2.1 earthquake rattles Cleveland, Tennessee, Sunday

A magnitude 2.1 earthquake struck Sunday afternoon just outside of Cleveland, Tennessee, near the intersection of Benton Pike and Old Parksville Road, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor was about 8.5 miles deep and struck at 2:18 p.m., preliminary USGS information showed.

A magnitude 2.1 earthquake is rarely felt by more than a few people except under extremely favorable conditions, USGS officials said.
