Two men have sustained injuries after a crane malfunctioned while they were working at a construction site in the 1200 block of Baldwin Field Circle at the Baldwin Park subdivision in the Dallas Bay area Friday morning, according to a news release from Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services.

The incident was reported at around 9 a.m. and the Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene. Chief Markus Fritts reported that an aerial boom had broken off the turntable of the crane while the crane operator was hoisting plywood to the second floor for a home under construction.

A construction worker received traumatic injuries after being hit by the boom and falling off the second floor of the structure. Another construction worker sustained a head injury from flying debris. Both workers were transported to a local hospital, the release states.

The incident is considered to be accidental due to a catastrophic failure on the turntable of the crane. The construction company building the home was reported as R & M Homes and the crane service was Crane Service, LLC.
