Two more people have been arrested for allegedly looting in tornado-affected areas this week after breaking into a home while it was being boarded up.

Chattanooga police were called to a home in the 2200 block of Launcelot Road in East Brainerd around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. They spoke to a man who said he was boarding up the house when two people, later identified as suspects Ashley Taylor, 29, and Donavan Aaron, 28, broke in.

The man told police that the two people started going through the home's cabinets and taking items out of them. The pair made a pile of the items in the back yard.

The two people fled before police arrived. Taylor and Aaron were later arrested about 13 miles away in the 7900 block of Hamill Mill Road in Hixson.

Once at the Hamilton County Jail, corrections staff found a "small match box containing an unknown white powder," authorities said.

Aaron and Taylor were both charged with aggravated burglary. Aaron also faces drug-related charges in connection to the white substance found in his possession.

They are expected in court on Wednesday.

Aaron and Taylor are the second group of people known to be arrested in connection to looting in the areas damaged by Easter Sunday's deadly EF3 tornado.

Earlier this month, four people were arrested following a police chase after they had allegedly been spotted just days earlier breaking into homes while wearing a Chattanooga SWAT hat and possibly posing as law enforcement.

Travis Brenner, 27, and three others, Demetrius Underwood, 39, Taylor Statum, 28, and Lance Rogers, 40, were all charged in connection to those break-ins.

Chattanooga police started traffic control points the day the storms touched down and still have roving patrol units throughout affected areas during the day and overnight.

Police Chief David Roddy has said his department will do everything it can to prevent storm victims from further victimization.

"Preying on people who've survived this disaster is not something this department will tolerate," he previously told the Times Free Press.
