Bonny Oaks Drive shut down Wednesday morning after crash, fireEmergency crews are on the scene of a vehicle crash and fire on Bonny Oaks Drive and the area is not expected to be cleared until 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday.

A truck hit a utility pole, rolled down an embankment and caught fire, according to a press release from the Chattanooga Fire Department.

Fire officials say power lines fell down onto the road and emergency personnel could not get to the vehicle until EPB workers made sure they were safe.

The Chattanooga Police Department states that Bonny Oaks Drive is shut down from Benton Drive to South Access Road until 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday.

EPB says a the utility pole was carrying two major power lines that left about 140 customers without power, but most of the customers have had power restored. All power should be restored by 10 a.m., the company states.

The condition of the driver is not known at this time.
