Murray County law enforcement officers have arrested a man for the alleged murder of two people in a crash that happened in the northern part of the county last week.

Two people - Crandall residents Tommy Nickels, 19, and Kristen Anna Nickels, 20 - were killed in a hit-and-run crash on July 29 in Murray County, Georgia.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, two cars were driving north on Highway 61 in the northern part of Murray County just south of Hooker Road.

According to a witness who talked with a responding trooper, a silver sedan was driving behind a red Ford Mustang. The sedan sped up to hit the Mustang, and the two cars collided a few times before the sedan drove up to the right of the Mustang and nudged it toward the right shoulder.

The Mustang then started to spin counterclockwise off the road and overturned on its passenger side. It then hit a tree and landed upright, facing north. Debris from the Mustang hit the front of a mobile home near the crash.

The witness told the trooper it looked like a scene from "The Fast and the Furious."

On Tuesday afternoon, Murray County Capt. Tim Bell, Chief Deputy Jimmy Davenport and Georgia State Patrol Trooper Stephen Langham found Anthony Brown at a residence on Highway 411.

Brown tried to run away from the officers and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit, according to a press release from Sheriff Gary Langford.

The burned remains of a 2006 silver Suzuki Reno were found behind the residence.

Brown is being charged with two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault with a vehicle and second-degree arson.
