A 15-year-old boy in Chattooga County was stabbed and later died due to his injuries at a nearby hospital Wednesday night.
Deputies with the Chattooga County Sheriff's Office arrived at 23 Williams St. in Lyerly at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and found the 15-year-old boy with multiple injuries and an adult man trying to help the teen.
The older man, Andy Roque Espinosa, 29, had attacked the 15-year-old with a knife, according to a news release from the Chattooga County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Redmond EMS transported the boy to Floyd Medical Center, where he eventually died.
Espinosa is in a relationship with the boy's mother, according to information obtained through the initial investigation.
GBI and local authorities are investigating the case.
