The Summerville Police Department has charged 53-year-old Angela Rowland with murder and two other crimes for the death of a 51-year-old man.

Summerville Police arrested Rowland Thursday for allegedly shooting and killing her live-in boyfriend, Ronald Moates.

Rowland had initially told police she acted in self defense, but after the police department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations investigated the shooting, they found her claims to be unsubstantiated.

The shooting happened on Dec. 30. Officers arrived at a home in the 100 block of Kelly Street in Summerville at about 11 p.m. after getting a call about a domestic dispute.

Officers found Moates dead when they arrived. It was determined that Moates lived at the address, according to a news release.

The shooting was the result of a domestic dispute, the Summerville Police Department said in a press release.

Rowland was booked in jail in Chattooga County for murder, aggravated assault and firearm charges.
