Services have been announced for an Ooltewah man who was gunned down in his front yard earlier this week.

Patrick Godwin, 57, had just gotten home from work Tuesday and was standing in his yard in the 8500 block of Horseshoe Bend Lane when he was shot and killed, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Godwin, a father of three, worked as a hairdresser for decades, most recently at Tease Hair Salon. He would have turned 58 on Jan. 9.

He is survived by his wife, Jenna.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 8214 East Brainerd Road.

A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 7111 Lee Highway.

Burial will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Since his death, community members have been mourning his loss.

In a Monday statement, the members of the Kidney Foundation of Greater Chattanooga expressed their sympathies to Godwin's family. "Patrick was a genuine soul who volunteered to style hair at many early years of Dare to Dance," reads a post on Facebook. "He helped calm many nerves before photo shoots and the big event. We are so sorry to learn of his passing."

The investigation into Godwin's death is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division of the sheriff's office at 423-622-0022.
