District attorney: Man pleads guilty in connection to Holtzclaw Avenue wreck

The driver of a Dodge Ram that struck a Chrysler van on Holtzclaw Avenue in January 2019, leaving two people dead, entered guilty pleas to two counts of vehicle homicide Monday, according to the Hamilton County District Attorney's Office.

Assistant District Attorney Andrew Coyle said Dwight Turner Jr. also pleaded guilty to one count of reckless aggravated assault, according to a Facebook post from the district attorney's office. Turner has been sentenced to a six-year prison term.

Mechele Lane, 38, died at the scene. Lorenzo Jarret Jr., 41, later died at a local hospital, and 60-year-old Melvin Tibbs was critically injured.
