A magnitude 2.1 earthquake struck in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, Wednesday around 7 p.m. in a residential area north of Battlefield Parkway, according to a preliminary report from the U.S. Geological Survey.
The temblor's epicenter was initially placed east of Dietz Road near Pierce Drive, the report states. The quake was about 12.5 miles beneath the earth's surface.
No damage was reported.
A magnitude 2.1 quake is generally felt only by a few people under favorable conditions, according to the USGS.
