Chattanooga police are searching for a man suspected of being involved in a double homicide of a woman and child after human remains were found in the woods near the 2300 block of Greenwood Road, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.
Arrest warrants have been issued for Gabriel F. Boykins, 45, who has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide and two counts of abuse of a corpse in the deaths of 40-year-old Tamara Church and an 8-year-old child, the release states.
The remains were found over two months after a family reported Church and the child as missing on May 19. After the missing persons unit opened an investigation and distributed a missing persons poster, new information was learned that lead to the homicide unit's involvement on July 9, when the remains were found.
The adult remains have been identified as that of Church, and a preliminary analysis of the child remains is believed to show they are those of the missing child, the release states.
