A Scottsboro, Alabama woman was killed Monday in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 72 east of Huntsville.

Burma Farmer Thomas, 80, was killed when the 1993 Chevrolet Suburban she was driving was struck by a 2014 Isuzu pickup on U.S. 72 near Moontown Road, eight miles east of Huntsville in Madison County, police said. Thomas' Chevrolet overturned into the eastbound lanes of the highway, according to a news release from Alabama Law Enforcement Agency senior trooper Derek Campbell.

Campbell said Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene while a passenger in her vehicle was injured and taken to a local hospital. There was no word on the condition of the driver of the Isuzu or the passenger.

An investigation is ongoing.
