Two passengers that were involved in a police chase died in a crash Thursday night in Whitfield County, Georgia.

At about 10 p.m. Thursday, the Georgia State Patrol was notified of a Ford Fusion on Interstate 75 near mile marker 320 that had a license plate from Tennessee that was listed as stolen.

A patrol officer tried to pull the Ford over but the driver - who was going more than 120 mph -wasn't compliant and refused to stop, authorities said.

The officer then performed a maneuver to try and slow the driver down. The Ford then went into the median, overturned and struck a tree.

The three people who were in the Ford were trapped. The two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver was flown to Erlanger hospital in Chattanoooga with serious injuries.

The GSP's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the collision.

The vehicle that the suspect was driving was listed as stolen from Chattanooga.

The next of kin of the deceased had not been notified as of Friday afternoon.
