Police search for hit-and-run driver after bicyclist struck, killed on Shallowford Road

Chattanooga police are investigating after a man was struck and killed while riding a bicycle on Shallowford Road, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

The 33-year-old man was riding a bicycle on the eastbound lane of 6400 Shallowford Rd. when he was struck from behind by a vehicle shortly after 12 a.m. Wednesday.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping, and emergency services transported the victim to a local hospital where he died, according to police.

Evidence collected at the scene includes vehicle parts that belong to a 2013 to 2016 Nissan Sentra with a charcoal or gray color, the release states.

The investigation is ongoing, and police ask anyone with information about the incident to call 423-698-2525 or submit a tip through the CPD mobile app. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
