The Tennessee Department of Health did not issue data on COVID-19 cases and tests Sunday due to an unplanned shutdown of the state surveillance system.
The health department uses the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to manage daily reports of COVID-19 data. Due to a high volume of both COVID-19 and other laboratory test results, a backlog occurred within the NBS system, according to a released statement.
