The Hamilton County Health Department is warning the public about possible COVID-19 exposure at two high school graduation ceremonies held this weekend.

According to the department, someone who was capable of spreading the deadly virus was in attendance at the graduation ceremony for Central High School and Hixson High School on June 27. The person was not a student and was sitting among the families in the stands, the health department said.

People are encouraged to get tested if they believe they may have been exposed. COVID-19 testing is being held at Brainerd High School this week from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

"We can't stress enough how vital it is to stay at home if you are sick," said Health Department Administrator Becky Barnes said in a statement Tuesday. "If you are having any respiratory symptoms or you have tested positive, stay home, do not go out into public."
