Tennessee officials will present $5.5 million in grants to Bradley, McMinn and Monroe counties on Friday to boost economic and rural development, officials said Wednesday.

Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe will be in Bradley to present two checks for rural development grants totaling more than $1.5 million.

The checks include one site development grant, which will be used to clear and grade 30 acres at the Spring Branch Industrial Park to create a pad ready site. Also, a community development block grant will assist with infrastructure improvements, officials said.

In addition, Rolfe with elected officials will present five checks for rural development grants totaling nearly $4 million in McMinn and Monroe counties.

The checks include two broadband accessibility grants, which will serve a combined 1,600 citizens in rural McMinn and Monroe counties who currently do not have access to internet service. Three additional community development block grant checks will be presented to Monroe County, Englewood and Tellico Plains, which will assist with infrastructure improvements and health and safety initiatives, officials said.
