An Alabama man was charged Wednesday in the Sunday slaying of a 25-year-old Jasper, Tennessee, man, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Jasper police early Sunday found Corbin Kain Hale had sustained a gunshot wound when they answered a call at a residence in the 400 block of Elm Street in Jasper, TBI spokeswoman Susan Niland said in a statement.
Hale was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, Niland said.
According to the TBI, an investigation led authorities to 27-year-old James Hunter Scott, an acquaintance of Hale's who lives in Alabama.
Scott and Hale had been involved in a confrontation, Niland said, and during the altercation Scott allegedly fired an undescribed weapon multiple times at Hale.
Scott is charged with criminal homicide and is being held at the Marion County Jail without bond.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office in Scottsboro, Alabama, and police in Stevenson and Bridgeport, Alabama, assisted in taking Scott into custody, Niland said.
