Walker County man arrested on child pornography and molestation charges

A Walker County man was arrested Tuesday on child pornography and molestation charges.

On Tuesday, the the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit searched the home of Damon Scarlett, 30, for an investigation involving the online sexual exploitation of children.

The Walker County Sheriffs Office and the state's Homeland Security Investigations were also there for the search.

After the search of Scarlett's home, he was arrested for child molestation, possession of child pornography and the creation/distribution of child pornography. He is in jail in Walker County.

The investigation is part of the ongoing effort by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force at GBI.

The task force was created by the U. S. Department of Justice and was developed in response to the increasing number of children and teenagers using the internet and the heightened online activity by predators searching for unsupervised contact with underage victims, according to GBI.
