Man injured in Tuesday afternoon shooting

A man has been injured in a Tuesday afternoon shooting, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

Police responded to a shots fired call around 2:44 p.m. and found witnesses who said people in two separate vehicles were involved in the incident and left the scene before the police arrived.

Minutes later, a 21-year-old man called dispatch saying he had been shot there and fled to the 4500 block of Highway 58, the release states.

Officers secured both locations and the man was taken to a local hospital. His injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.
