A magnitude 2.0 earthquake struck early Wednesday in Monroe County, Tennessee, just north of Tellico Plains, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake struck near Sinking Cave Road around 3:30 a.m. about 3.6 miles northeast of Tellico, the agency said in a statement issued Wednesday morning. The temblor was about 15 miles deep in an areas with few homes, though one residence was just a few yards from the estimated epicenter.
A magnitude 2.0 quake is generally felt only by a few people under favorable conditions, according to agency.
